A well-designed ute should make it easier to transport tools, equipment and materials without wasting valuable space. A Ute Toolbox can be an important part of that setup, particularly when integrated with an aluminium tray. ezToolbox combines a premium tray design with a pair of tapered under-tray toolboxes, creating a practical foundation for tradespeople and other ute users who need organised storage.

The aluminium tray measures 1780mm wide by 1800mm long and features a 3.5mm aluminium checker-plate deck. Its 5mm C-channel and main frame, together with a 40 x 80 RHS sub-frame, provide a structured platform for everyday vehicle use. The design also incorporates 32mm tubing for tie-down ropes, helping users manage loads on the tray more effectively.

One of the standout features of this tray configuration is the inclusion of under-tray storage. Depending on the space remaining behind the mudguards, the package includes a pair of tapered toolboxes in 600mm, 750mm or 900mm lengths. This arrangement allows smaller tools and accessories to be stored beneath the main deck instead of taking up valuable tray space.

The tray also includes flare mudguards and mudflaps as part of the package. The 3mm flare mudguards are designed to accommodate tyres up to 35 inches, with positioning varying according to the selected ute model. Pre-drilled holes are provided for the mudguards, while additional cutting may be required during fitting.

Lighting is another practical feature of the design. Maxilight LED tail lights provide daytime running, indicator, reverse and stop functions, while AutoLED licence plate lights are included. The necessary resistors are supplied according to the ute model, so providing accurate vehicle details when ordering is important for appropriate configuration.

For tradespeople, the combination of an open tray and dedicated under-tray storage can create a more efficient working vehicle. Larger materials can remain on the deck while hand tools, straps and other compact equipment can be placed in the storage compartments below. This separation can help reduce clutter and make the vehicle easier to organise.

The aluminium construction also makes the tray suitable for owners looking to replace a conventional ute tub with a purpose-built tray system. With an approximate product weight of 108kg, the design provides a substantial platform while retaining the practical characteristics associated with aluminium construction.

Vehicle compatibility should always be considered before purchasing a replacement tray. The product allows customers to select their ute model, with mudguard positioning and lighting requirements taken into account during configuration. The universal steel fitting kit is not included, and ezToolbox recommends using a local fabricator for installation where required.

A premium tray can also form the foundation for a broader vehicle storage system. Owners can add suitable canopies, toolboxes and accessories depending on how their ute is used. For businesses, this can help transform the vehicle into a more organised mobile workspace, while recreational users can configure the tray around touring and outdoor equipment.

When selecting a tray and storage system, dimensions, construction, vehicle compatibility, mounting requirements and storage needs should all be reviewed carefully. The right combination can make better use of available space while supporting the practical demands of everyday driving and work.

For ute owners seeking a structured upgrade, the Ute Toolbox and premium aluminium tray combination from ezToolbox offers a practical approach to vehicle organisation. With under-tray toolboxes, a checker-plate deck, flare mudguards and integrated LED lighting, it provides a versatile foundation for building a more functional ute.
